One more year FHF is present at the Tudela Vegetable Festival

From April 19 to May 3, the traditional Vegetable Festivals were held in La Ribera, which, after two years of the pandemic, recovered their face-to-face format.

Popular tastings, tastings, workshops, presentations, contests, concerts… The Vegetable Festivals were held again as usual, after being suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic and offering a limited program in 2021 due to the health situation. Activities for all tastes and for all audiences. A wonderful opportunity to praise our vegetables and in which, once again, FHF could not miss collaborating in the organization of workshops, contests, raffles or with the donation of products to different entities for use in different activities, tastings or exhibitions.

I Congress of the White Artichoke of Tudela

One of the acts that we could not miss as attendees was the I Congress of the White Artichoke of Tudela. An event whose purpose was to highlight this native variety, which was attended by different experts and producers from Ribera and other appellations of origin, in addition to the assistance of organizations from different Mediterranean areas that work and produce their product with this variety.

A meeting point on ‘Blanca de Tudela’ artichoke and its enhancement as a Navarran product, where they discussed its current situation, cultivation problems and possible solutions, as well as creating synergies with the different entities that produce the same variety as the PGI Regulatory Council Tudela artichoke.

Family cooking workshop

During the morning of April 22 was held in the Carpa de la Orden del Volatín in Tudela a family cooking workshop given by the chef and nutritionist from Navarra, Juan Carlos Fernández, where the little ones in the house learned and had a great time preparing delicious dishes with their parents and relatives such as rice with vegetables and lamb, vegetable stew or vegetables in tempura. A pleasure to see them enjoy cooking and even more to see them eat what they themselves had prepared. The workshop was sponsored by Reyno Gourmet and had the collaboration of FHF.

Family Nutrition Workshop

On April 27, a family nutrition workshop was held in the Tent of the Orden del Volatín where, among other things, the virtues of broccoli and different ways of cooking it for the whole family were discussed. A workshop given by Ana Espiño, a nutritionist from the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and organized by the +Brócoli Association, an entity of which FHF has been a member since last year, and whose purpose is to promote the consumption of broccoli through different activities to children and adults. The workshop ended with the raffle of different prizes where no child was left without their gift.

General Chapter of the Order of the Rafter Man

The plenary hall of the Tudela City Council once again hosted the General Chapter of the Orden del Volatín, which was filled with attendees and brothers from the different invited brotherhoods. The president of the Orden was in charge of appointing honorary members to Eusebio Unzué, general manager of the Movistar professional cycling team; a Lourdes Plana, president of the Royal Academy of Gastronomy; and his predecessor in this position, Rafael Ansón, in addition to the distinctions of honor for the Friends of the Vineyard and Wine of Baena (Córdoba) and for the Reina Sofía Hospital in Tudela for the work and effort of its human team during the pandemic.

One more year the act included the delivery of boxes of artichokes to the attending brotherhoods and the different winners that were donated by FHF.

Popular tapas tasting

One of the events that attracts the most people each year is the popular tasting of vegetable tapas that takes place at the headquarters of the clubs and gastronomic societies that are located throughout the Old Quarter of the city. For its part, FHF collaborated in this activity by donating boxes of artichokes and broccoli that were used to prepare some of the delicious pinchos offered by the Peña Ciudad Deportiva de Tudela.

With ‘La Pandi’ back to the Schools

FHF was once again present in the schools of Tudela together with Sakata Seed Ibérica, a company that is in charge of organizing different workshops aimed at the little ones with the aim of promoting the importance of eating a healthy diet and disseminating the benefits of consuming broccoli. .

Between April 25 and May 5, almost 1,000 students from the six schools in the city enjoyed almost 40 workshops and activities such as the interactive game of ‘La Pandi’, an online workshop designed for children between 5 and 10 years old through which they learn, having fun at the same time, the difference between different fruits and vegetables. They were also able to see broccoli first-hand through games and activities taught by professional nutritionists.

A few days that have had a wonderful reception and that, after two years of hiatus, recover all their essence. Thanks to all the organizers and especially to the Order of the Kite for their excellent work in these days, sending our vegetables to the last corner of the world.
